People's Defense Central Headquarters Command (HSM) reported in a written statement that the Turkish army has in recent days made critical attempts to end the non-conflict situation, stressing that: “In any case, our forces are in the position of responding to the attacks within the framework of fair self defense. These attempts of the Turkish military show that an unnamed conflict has began by now and constitute a risk of ending for the non-conflict process.”
HSM pointed out that the process initiated by Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan with a historic declaration on 21 March 2013 had aimed to ensure democratization in Turkey, a substantial solution to the Kurdish question and the initiation of a new peaceful process in the Middle East region on the basis of the Democratic Nation perspective.
However- it continued- the AKP government, on contrary to its promises, didn't only avoid making the necessary legal and constitutional arrangements in order for the advancement of the process, but also started preparations for a multilateral battle. HSM remarked that the government wanted to enact the Internal Security Bill as part of its preparations for warfare.
HSM continued, emphasising that the process for which the AKP government has taken no steps serving solution and democracy yet has been able to continue until today thanks to the will and efforts of the Kurdish leader and the common sense of the Kurdish movement. The statement said that the process has reached a critical phase and is facing a deadlock today as the AKP has continued delaying the necessary steps through demagogy and wanted to create a false perception among the public as if it were taking steps and advancing the process.
The statement said that in addition, remarkably for the last three days, Turkish military forces on Uludere border line have carried out artillery and tank attacks targeting the positions of guerrilla forces in Haftanin area. "Within this critical period when the non-conflict situation is being maintained despite the deadlock the process is facing, the aggressive attitute of the Turkish army in Uludere stands as an attempt to end the non-conflict period," it underlined.
HSM recalled that Turkish military had so far repeatedly violated the conditions of the ceasefire with ongoing constructions of military posts and dams, as well as with direct intervention from time to time.
"In this strained environment which is facing a deadlock, the attitude of the Turkish army is attention grabbing. The Turkish army's unilateral attacks against guerrilla positions, which are carried out despite there being no activity by guerrilla forces, do not only force the guerrilla to respond but also impose the initiation of a new process to end the current process", HSM underlined.
HSM Headquarters Command noted that in parallel with this, Turkish military forces on Şemdinli border line have recently started conducting artillery attacks against guerrilla positions from Museka (Gökçetaş) and Bêrox military posts. It added that Turkish soldiers also started activities in the field from two directions and attempted to make advances towards their targets.
The statement added that all these practices by the Turkish army were critical attempts at risk of ending the non-conflict period.
