HSM congratulates guerrillas on the revolutionary operation in Metîna

The headquarters of the People's Defense Center congratulated the guerrillas and commanders for their successful operation against the Turkish occupation forces in Metîna.

On November 26, the guerrillas carried out the Şehîd Leyla Sorxwîn Amed Revolutionary Operation against Turkish troops at Girê Çarçel in the region of Metîna, in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). At least 18 Turkish soldiers were killed and large quantities of military equipment were confiscated.

The headquarters of the People's Defense Center (HSM) released a statement congratulating the guerrilla forces for the successful operation and said: "We once again congratulate our valuable comrades on the founding anniversary of the PKK. We remember with respect and gratitude our friend Şîlan Kobanê, one of the pioneers of our struggle, and comrades Fuad, Ciwan, Zekeriya and Cemil, who fell alongside her on November 29, 2004. We promise that we will maintain the values that our martyrs created at the cost of their lives, the revolution of freedom and the sacred struggle, and to keep their memories alive all the time."

The HSM described the action with the following words: "On November 26, the night before the founding of our party PKK, the revolutionary operation Şehîd Leyla Sorxwîn Amed was launched against the invading troops in the Girê Çarçel Resistance Area in Metîna. In spirit of sacrifice, the guerrillas moved on the enemy from five sides and dealt an effective blow with infiltration and attack tactics. The fact that the enemy was hit in a precise and unrelenting manner shows that a high level of subtlety and depth was achieved in the way of movement and stealth. Through a combination of the Apoist sacrificial spirit, subtle style and ingenious combination of modern tactics with creativity, 18 enemy soldiers, including their commanders, were punished. Their deaths were determined by checking each individual body, and 1 BKC medium automatic weapon, 1 grenade launcher, 2 MPT-55 individual weapons and many military equipment were confiscated. In addition, despite the darkness of the night and the fierce clashes, the identities of some of the punished soldiers were also clarified and recorded. The Martyr Leyla Sorxwîn Amed Revolutionary Operation was carried out precisely in accordance with the tactics of the period and in a way that dealt a heavy blow to the enemy who were disarmed without any casualties being suffered.”

HSM congratulated all the commanders and fighters who participated in every phase of the Martyr Leyla Sorxwîn Amed Revolutionary Operation, from planning to execution, and personally led it to success.

“It is very significant that this revolutionary operation was named after a female commander, Leyla Sorxwîn Amed, who was a self-sacrificing, revolutionary and courageous Kurdish woman and a member of the Central Committee of our party PKK, the Command Council of the HPG and our front commander in Botan. The fact that the action was carried out on the night before the founding of the PKK is also particularly significant,” said the statement.

The HSM emphasized that the successful operation also dealt a massive blow to the Turkish state's special war propaganda, which conceals its own losses and massively exaggerates the losses of the guerrillas. “With a single move, it tore down the special war lies of the Turkish state, which never explains its own losses or confesses very little when it has to, but tries to deceive everyone by portraying alleged guerrilla losses that never happened as if they had happened.”

The statement concluded: "With the sincerest revolutionary feelings, we once again greet all comrades who fought with the spirit of Apoist sacrifice and dealt a heavy blow to the enemy. We believe that they will achieve even greater successes in the new party year and wish them great success."
