HPG (People's Defense Forces) Sinjar Command & YBŞ (Sinjar Resistance Units) General Command reported in a written statement that the operation to liberate Sinjar continued.
According to the statement by HPG/YBŞ, ISIS gangs launched a fresh wave of attacks against the hamlets of Bare and Shilo at 10 am yesterday morning.
The ISIS attack which was conducted from three directions, targeting the hamlets of Geliyê Shilo, Sîkiniye and Dola Xatune, was broken upon an immediate response by joint forces of resistance. Following clashes that intensified on mountainsides and Dola Xatune line and lasted till evening hours, the ISIS groups were forced to retreat from all the areas where they attempted attacks after suffering heavy blows in the fighting.
The statement said that HPG-YJA Star, YBŞ and Shehy Xeyri forces have launched an operational offensive in memory of Martyr Shehy Xeyri Mırat today. The ISIS groups fled the region following the offensive during which the village of Sîkiniye, a hill overlooking the village, two hills and a post in Geliye Shilo was taken control by resistance forces.
9 members of the ISIS were killed and 13 others were wounded in heavy clashes during which forces of resistance suffered no casualties, the statement said, adding that 3 other gang members were killed in separate attacks carried out by guerrillas against gang groups in Suka Jer at 2 pm and in Taxa Minare between 5-11 pm yesterday.
