HPG: Two soldiers killed, one surveillance camera destroyed in actions by the guerrillas

Two more Turkish soldiers were killed as the guerrilla resistance against the Turkish invading forces in the Medya Defense Zones continues unabated.

The resistance of the HPG (People's Defence Forces) and YJA Star (Free Women's Troops) against Turkish invasion in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) continues unabated.

According to the HPG Press Office statement on Monday, two more members of the Turkish troops were killed in guerrilla actions against the occupation forces at Girê  (Hill) Cûdî in the Zap region. The guerrillas also destroyed a surveillance camera and sabotaged the establishment of military positions. The guerrillas also took action against the Turkish invasion forces that attempted to airdrop more soldiers in the region.

Details of the latest actions by the guerrillas are as follows:

Girê Cûdî Resistance Area in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region

On 20 August, YJA Star guerrillas destroyed a surveillance camera using sniper tactics.

On 20 August, guerrillas struck the occupiers with heavy weapons and damaged a military position.

On 20 August, the occupation forces were hit by YJA Star guerrillas with heavy weapons and prevented from establishing military positions.

On 20 August, a group of occupiers moving in open terrain were struck and one soldier was shot dead by a YJA Star sniper.

On 20 August, guerrillas intervened six times against Sikorsky helicopters on a mission to airdrop troops in the area.

On 21 August, the occupiers were struck by YJA Star guerrillas and prevented from establishing military positions. One soldier was killed.

Attacks by the Turkish army

On the other hand, Turkish fighter jets carried out at least six attacks on the Girê Cûdî Resistance Area and Girê Bahar Resistance Area on 20 August.  On the same day, the regions of Zap, Şehîd Delîl and Metîna were attacked by artillery.
