HPG: Seven soldiers killed in Xakurke and Gever

Seven soldiers of the Turkish army were killed in guerrilla actions and clashes in Xakurke and Gever. The Turkish air force has bombed nine locations in guerrilla areas in Southern Kurdistan in the past two days.

The Press Centre of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) informs in a recent statement about guerrilla actions in the Xakurke, Southern Kurdistan and Hakkari in Northern Kurdistan as well as about the recent air attacks of the Turkish army on the Medya Defense Zones.

Accordingly, several sabotage actions against the Turkish occupying forces took place in Xakurke on 22 July at eight o'clock in the morning. The actions took place as part of the HPG offensive "Şehîd Bager and Şehîd Ronya" and were directed against operational units in the area between the hills of Lêlîkan and Kevorte. Three soldiers were killed and four others injured here. The remaining soldiers were withdrawn from the operational area in the evening. HPG dedicated this action to the martyrs of the resistance against the Turkish invasion of Heftanin, which has continued for over a month.

Regarding a military operation in Hakkari, the HPG press office said: "On July 19, the Turkish occupying army started an occupation operation in the Mergêzerê area of Gever (Yüksekova) at two o'clock in the morning. The occupying forces airdropped troops from helicopters and there were fierce clashes with our forces. During these clashes three soldiers were killed and many others were injured. The operation was discontinued on the evening of July 21. Further details will be released as soon as available."

Air attacks on guerrilla areas in Southern Kurdistan

On July 21, Turkish fighter jets bombed the villages of Derik, Mam Egîd and Sêdarê in Gare. On July 22, air raids took place on the villages of Enzê, Silê and Beriyan as well as on the areas of Şehîdan and Zergelê in the Qandil Mountains. On the same day the area of Goşine was also bombed in Xakurke. According to HPG, there were no guerrilla losses.
