HPG reports resolute resistance against occupiers

According to HPG, at least another eleven Turkish army soldiers have died in guerrilla resistance operations in the past two days.

The fighters of the guerrilla organizations HPG and YJA Star continue their resistance against the Turkish invasion in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) with determination. According to a statement released by the press center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) on Sunday, at least eleven more soldiers of the Turkish army have died in the past two days during actions against the occupation operation. Two other military personnel were injured.

The guerrillas go on the offensive in the fight against the Turkish army mainly in mobile small groups using effective tactics. The overview of the actions in the last two days mentions various guerrilla techniques. In Avaşîn, two Turkish military positions on the Werxelê mountain massif came under fire from close range yesterday. One of the positions was completely destroyed, the second was massively damaged.

In Zap, snipers from the YJA Star women's guerrillas were initially deployed at the Kevirêkun defenses in Şikefta Birîndara before launching a two-front assault by means of infiltration, ambush and other sniper actions against the occupation forces.

In the Karker resistance area, the guerrillas carried out a coordinated assault against military units in the vicinity of the Girê Ortê war positions. In Şehîd Şahîn, heavy weapons were used against the Turkish soldiers. The guerrillas also proceeded in a similar manner in Xakurke. There, several soldiers positioned at Şehîd Axîn hill came under fire.

Air and ground attacks by the Turkish army

Turkish army bombardments in Southern Kurdistan continue unabated both from the air and on the ground. The HPG recorded twelve waves of attacks by the Turkish air force alone in the period between May 6 and 8. Additional attacks were carried out by ground forces at border posts.

In Metîna, two air strikes were recorded on the Girê Ortê side there. In addition, both the hill and the surrounding areas of the villages of Hiror, Dêşîşê and Êdinê were bombed with howitzers and heavy weapons.

In Zap, the Girê Cûdî was attacked three times by warplanes. The Karker and Saca areas came under fire from fighter jets. Artillery shells fired from border posts struck the area of Çemço.

In Xakurke, the Turkish Air Force targeted the area surrounding Ava Lolan.

In Gare, the slopes of Girê Zengil were hit by fighter jets.
