HPG reports ongoing resistance and actions against Turkish occupation in guerrilla areas

Three more members of the occupation forces were killed in guerrilla actions as the resistance against Turkish invasion in guerrilla areas continues unabated.

In its daily statement about the war in Kurdistan, the Press Office of the People's Defence Forces (HPG) reported that resistance continues unabated to the Turkish invasion of the guerrilla-held Medya Defence Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

According to the HPG statement on Friday, the guerrillas continued their actions against the occupying forces in the past 24 hours in the regions of Zap, Metina and Şehîd Delîl in western Zap, from which the Turkish army had to withdraw last winter after suffering heavy losses. Since 20 July, the area has again been the focus of occupation efforts as part of a new operation by Turkey.

Zap

Guerrillas hit and damaged a heavy construction machine used to demolish the guerrillas’ defensive positions in Sida Resistance Area at 08:30 on 25 August. The demolition work was then stopped.

Metîna

The guerrillas carried out an action against Turkish troops in Girê Ortê Resistance Area on 24 August. The soldiers were struck with heavy weapons.

Gire Cudi Resistance Area in Şehîd Delîl western Zap region

Guerrillas from YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) struck the occupation forces with heavy weapons at 06:00 on 24 August. In the afternoon, a Turkish soldier was shot dead by a guerrilla sniper.

Guerrilla strikes with heavy weapons left two positions of the Turkish forces damaged at 02:30 on 24 August.

On 25 August night, the area was shelled 7 times by attack helicopters. A Sikorsky helicopter with airborne troops on board was intervened by the guerrillas with heavy weapons and prevented from airdropping troops.

One soldier was killed by a YJA Star sniper at 01:30 at night.

At 03:00, YJA Star guerrillas struck the occupation forces, killing one of them and injuring one other.

Attacks by the Turkish army

On the other hand, the Turkish army carried out artillery attacks on Zap, Şehîd Delîl Western Zap, Metîna and Xakurkê.
