HPG reports guerilla actions in Heftanin and Gever

Guerrillas carried out a series of actions in Heftanin and Geve. At least four soldiers of the Turkish army were killed.

The Press Centre of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) has released a statement providing information on the latest guerrilla actions in Heftanin and Gever as well as on Turkish air attacks on the Medya Defense Zones.

Resistance to occupation operation in Heftanin

In Heftanin, sabotage actions against the Turkish occupying forces took place on the hills Şehîd Berîvan and Şehîd Adar on June 17 and 18. According to HPG, the number of killed or injured soldiers could not be determined.

On Tuesday evening, the Xantur area was bombed at random by attack helicopters of the Turkish army, starting a fire in the bombarded area. The helicopters were targeted by the guerrillas and forced to retreat.

Four soldiers killed in Gever

In Gever (Yüksekova) district of Hakkari Province, guerrillas carried out a sabotage action on 22 June which targeted a Turkish military vehicle driving in the Geliyê Doski area near the Memişta outpost. One soldier of the Turkish army was killed and two members of counter-guerrilla forces were injured. The Turkish army launched a military operation in the area after the action.

On 23 June, an HPG unit in two groups hit Turkish positions at the Perixan outpost. One sergeant and two soldiers were killed and one soldier was injured here.

Air attacks on guerrilla areas

HPG also reported continued aerial attacks by the Turkish army in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq. On June 23, Turkish fighter jets bombed the area around the village of Gire in the Avashin region and the Karker area in the Zap region. The guerrillas did not suffer any casualties.
