Şevîn Azad

Şevîn Azad was born in Yüksekova (Gever) in the province of Hakkari (Colêmêrg). Shortly before her birth, her father Reşit was killed in a battle with the Turkish army in Mêrgezer in the Zagros Mountains. In 2013, her cousin Bemal Tokçu was killed at a funeral in Yüksekova, and in 2014 her friend Rojhat Özdel was killed at a demonstration.

At the same time, ISIS was carrying out massacres in Kobanê and Shengal. In 2015, Şevîn went to the mountains and joined the guerrillas. During her training, she studied the history of Kurdistan and the PKK, as well as the ideology of women's liberation. As she herself said, the military part of the training gave her strength and courage.

When she pulled the trigger of her weapon, she thought of Abdullah Öcalan and the martyrs: "A militant must be patient, strong, determined and proactive in battle."

She then put the knowledge she gained during her training into practice. The HPG wrote that Şevîn Azad continued the fight of her fallen father and left behind an unforgettable legacy.

Ali Çiçek Cûdî

Ali Çiçek Cûdî was born in Silopi (Silopiya) in the province of Şirnak (Şirnex) and belonged to the Sipêrtî tribe. He grew up with the culture typical of Botan in an environment close to the PKK. Because people from his immediate surroundings fought in the Kurdish freedom movement, he felt sympathy for the guerrillas from an early age.

In 2014, affected by the ISIS attacks on Rojava and Shengal, he went to the mountains and became a guerrilla. After an initial stay in Botan, he came to the Medya Defense Areas for basic training. The training and collective life in the guerrillas strengthened his goal of dedicating his entire existence to the freedom of his people.

He built close ties with his fellow fighters. The HPG described him as a young, dynamic and lively person who carried out his revolutionary tasks with great care and was loved and respected in the guerrillas.

Sarya Ronahî Zagros

Sarya Ronahî Zagros was born in Kerboran in the province of Mardin (Mêrdîn) and grew up in a family close to the Kurdish freedom movement. Her childhood and youth were influenced by the war in Kurdistan and the people's resistance to oppression. During her school years, state death squads carried out murders in Mardin. As with many Kurdish children, that brutality also led to early maturity in Sarya.

Even as a schoolgirl, she was already active as a conspiratorial militia for the guerrillas and provided very helpful support in a disciplined manner. During her studies, she was active in the revolutionary youth movement and gained a lot of experience as a result. Her wish to join the guerrilla was postponed until later due to her successful work.

She was arrested for her activities and eventually graduated as a health assistant from the University of Van. She then looked after for those injured during the defense of Kobanê against ISIS.

When she finally went to the mountains, her childhood dream came true. She underwent basic training and was amazed by the Zagros Mountains. Due to her experience, she was given tasks that required great secrecy and ideological depth. She worked in various locations in the Medya Defense Areas and was involved in the health sector, among other things.
