Giving information about the increasingly ongoing activities of the Turkish military, HPG-BIM said that a unit of 70-80 military staff, involved in operational actions on the Mamreş Hill under Turkish army's control in Şemdinli district of Hakkari, entered the areas of Boxaza Kevotê and Boxaza Hêliza on 6 April.

HPG-BIM reported that guerrillas opened a warning fire in response to the operation attempt of the Turkish soldiers who responded to this with artillery attack on the areas of guerrillas.

The statement said that the operation was expanded to the areas of Mêrgê, Bêrox, Deryê Kevotê and Deryê Hêliza as it was soon participated by more soldiers coming from Bêzok and Musaka military posts.

"In response to the expanding operation of the Turkish army, guerrilla forces were forced to open another warning fire at 16.30 after being subjected to an intense bombardment with mortar, howitzer and artillery attacks in which Hill Ronahî and hillsides were targeted from Bêzok, Museka and Mamreş military posts from 4 to 8 pm in the evening. HPG-BIM noted that the operation continued till 6 am this morning, and that the Turkish army continued activities with ambushes laid by secret units in Mergê, Deryê Kevotê and Deryê Hêliza areas.

The statement added that the Turkish army also performed reconnaissance flights over this area from 17.30 yesterday evening to 4 am this morning.

The HPG statement also reported that the Turkish army has launched another operation targeting the Boxaza Zeytê area from the Girana military post in Şemdinli, aiming to take the control of Mêrgê and Ş. Reşit Hill. The operation in this area is going on, bearing a high possibility of clashes, HPG-BIM said.

According to the statement, the Turkish military also opened random fire with anti-aircraft artillery from Dêrik military post in Gerdiya area held by the Turkish army, near Şemdinli district, while UAVs carried out reconnaissance flights over the border line between 3 and 4 pm yesterday.

Stating that UAVs of the Turkish army also performed intense reconnaissance flights over the Zap region in Medya Defense Zones between 9 in the morning and 01.30 at night yesterday, HPG-BIM added that; "Reconnaissance flights by Skorsky helicopters of the Turkish army are also taking place over the Apê Musa and Martyr Brusk areas of Amed recently, and over Farqin (Silvan) district for the last three days."
