HPG: Guerrillas responding to the attacks of Turkish army with actions

HPG said Malazgirt District Garrison Commander Arslan Kulaksız was killed in an action in memory of HPG Central Command Member Önder Aslan (Şervan Varto) who was martyred in the most recent airstrikes of the Turkish army.

Remarking that Turkish army continued its attacks on guerrilla areas in North Kurdistan and Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan, HPG provided the following information regarding the ongoing Turkish attacks;

Between 12:00-13:00 on July 27, troops at Garê outpost at the border with Xakurke area of Medya Defense Zones targeted Çiyayê Gostê, Boğaza Evliya and Kurê Mizgeftê hill with howitzers and mortars.

Troops at Zivinge outpost in Gabar area of Botan region opened artillery fire on Zıpık area at 18:00 on July 27.

Troops at Aruş hill outpost at the border to Metina carried out a bombardment with howitzer, mortar and A4 heavy weaponry in which Martyr Agır and Martyr Lezgin areas were targeted between 20:00-21:00 on July 27.

Troops at Serê Sevê outpost at the border to Zap region of Medya Defense Zones launched a bombardment on Çiyayê Reş area between 19:00-20:00 on July 27.

ACTIONS IN HAKKARI AND ŞIRNAK

Also providing information about the actions by guerrillas, HPG said guerrillas conducted mortar attack against the Military Battalion and the Sikorsky type helicopters deployed around it in Yüksekova district of Hakkari at 19:00 on July 27. HPG said no detailed information about the results of the action could be obtained.

One other armed action by guerrillas targeted three positions of Turkish soldiers at Çakırsöğüt Brigade in Şırnak at 21:00 on July 27. One soldier was killed and many others were wounded in the guerrilla action upon which Turkish military shelled the surrounding areas with howitzers and mortars, as well as Cobra type helicopters.

'MALAZGİRT GARRISON COMMANDER TARGETED BY GUERRILLAS'

HPG said that in another action in memory of Şervan Varto martyred in recent Turkish strikes, guerrillas targeted and killed Garrison Commander Arslan Kulaksız in Malazgirt district of Muş at 19:00 on July 27. HPG added that Kulaksız himself but not his family was targeted in the action.

HPG provided further information regarding the actions by guerrillas;

The bridge on the route between Muş province and Pasur district of Amed was destroyed as a result of a sabotage action by guerrillas at 01:00 on July 28.

Guerrillas blocked the road between Bazid district of Ağrı and Iğdır province at 21:00 on July 25, upon which Turkish troops intervened the scene with armored vehicles. In response to this, guerrillas destroyed an armored vehicle with the soldiers in it.

HPG further reported that an activity of Turkish warplanes took place over the Heftanin area of Medya Defense Zones and its borderline between 04:00-05:00 on July 28.

The statement by HPG listed the followings as to where reconnaissance flights were conducted by the Turkish army over guerrilla zones;

- Zap region between 09:00-10:00 on July 27 and between 14:30 – 16:00 on July 28,

- Martyr Xebat area in Dersim's Pülümür district, and Kızılağaç area of Bingöl between 13:00-15:00 and 18:00-19:00 on July 27,

- Hill Golê, Martyr Remzi and Cehennem Brook in Tendürek area of Ağrı between 20:00-00:00 on July 27,

- Geliyê Zîlan area at 21:00 on July 27 and at 06:00 on July 28.

HPG reported that Turkish army has also made military shipment to Basani outpost from Esendere area in Yüksekova district of Hakkari at noon on July 27. The same day, Sikorsky type helicopters also made military shipment to the area of Gundike Şexê in Gabar area at 18:00.

The statement by HPG added that Turkish warplanes dropped flammable material into the Apê Musa, Martyr Serxwebun and Martyr Serhat areas of Amed province between 21:00-22:00 on July 27.
