HPG: 5 Turkish soldiers killed in Heftanin and Ağrı

Two soldiers of the Turkish army were killed in Heftanin and three others in Ağrı. While a civilian was murdered by soldiers, three guerrillas fell as martyrs in Ağrı.

The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG-BIM) released a statement about guerrilla actions and clashes in Kurdistan territory.

According to the statement, guerrillas hit Turkish forces in Heftanin region of guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq as part of the Cenga Heftanin [Battle of Heftanin] campaign.

HPG-BIM said that the Turkish soldiers stationed on Hill Partizan were hit by guerrillas at 14:00 on January 1st. While the positions and shelters of the Turkish forces were struck effectively, two soldiers were killed in the action, after which the Turkish army bombarded the area with heavy weapons.

CIVILIAN MURAT KAYA MURDERED BY TURKISH SOLDIERS

Reporting that the Turkish army launched an operation in the vicinity of the Soğukpınar village in Ağrı’s Tutak district on December 6, 2019, HPG-BIM said that fierce fighting erupted between a guerrilla unit and Turkish soldiers in this area in the afternoon on the same day. Three soldiers were killed and ten others wounded in the clash, while three guerrillas fell putting up a brave fight against the Turkish forces, said the HPG-BIM.

The statement reported that Turkish soldiers deliberately murdered a resident of the village, named Murat Kaya, adding that the ID details of the fallen guerrillas will be announced later on.
