HPG: 12 soldiers were killed in guerrilla actions in memory of Zilan

Guerrillas resolutely continue their resistance against the Turkish invasion of Southern Kurdistan. According to HPG information, twelve soldiers were killed in Metina, and the Turkish army continues to use chemical weapons against guerrilla positions.

The Turkish army continues to encounter massive resistance from the guerrillas in its invasion of Southern Kurdistan. HPG Press Office reported that at least twelve members of the occupying forces were killed in Metina on Saturday during actions by guerrillas of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) and Free Women's Troops (YJA Star), who operate in small mobile groups. The actions were carried out in memory of the female guerrilla Zeynep Kınacı (Zîlan), who fell in 1996.

Two of the actions took place in the Girê Hekarî resistance area. First, an attempt to advance on the Girê Şehîd Zemanî war tunnels was met with heavy fire, which was followed by a firefight lasting about thirty minutes. In the course of this, the guerrillas seized a pair of binoculars with a rangefinder. Later in the day, Turkish military positions in the vicinity of the nearby Girê Şehîd Akîf tunnel facility were infiltrated by guerrillas. The semi-mobile guerrilla units proceeded from two sides. One front used hand grenades and light weapons, while the second front targeted occupiers from close range. HPG put the number of casualties in the ranks of the Turkish army at seven.

Several sniper actions were carried out by the guerrillas in the Girê FM resistance area, during which five soldiers were shot dead. Occupation troops were also targeted by guerrillas in Girê Şehîd Çekdar and forced out of the mountainous region through the use of heavy weapons.

In the same period, the guerrillas again recorded massive attacks by the Turkish army on the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan. At least four detonations by explosives targeted the defence positions at Girê Hekarî on Saturday. In parallel, Turkish outposts fired several artillery shells at the region. The Şehîd Yunus war tunnels on the Girê Cûdî massif were bombed twelve times, including with chemical warfare agents. In the region of Zap, the Girê Amediye and Girê Bihar areas were attacked six times by fighter jets.
