Heavy blow inflicted on the Turkish army in Serhat

Guerrillas took control of the international road between Dogubeyazit and Çaldıran on July 21.

HPG and YJA-Star guerrillas continue their actions against the occupant Turkish army. A statement published by HPG Press Office gave the following information about the recent actions carried out by guerrillas in Kurdistan territory:

“Within the scope of the Revolutionary Victory Campaign which was launched in Serhat Province, our guerrilla forces have cut off and brought under control the international road between Bazid (Dogubeyazit) district of Agirî (Ağrı) and Çaldıran district of Van at 21:00 on July 21.

In the action, a large number of vehicles were gathered and our guerrilla forces have informed the public about the current process. At the same time, 6 trucks belonging to those working with enemy forces were burned by our forces and 4 of them were completely destroyed. For a long time, the invading Turkish army, unable to intervene in the scene, blocked the international road. Also, our forces carried out an action targeting an armored vehicle trying to intervene in the scene of action. In the action, the armored vehicle was damaged, two soldiers were killed, and one A4 heavy weapon on the vehicle was destroyed.

After the action, at 12.00, the occupying Turkish army bombarded the area with howitzers and mortars and launched an operation with the support of unmanned aerial vehicles. At 18:30, our forces carried out an action against a Cobra-type vehicle. The number of dead and wounded soldiers in the action could not be determined. The operation is still ongoing in the area.

Within the scope of the Martyr Piroz and Martyr Agirî Revolutionary Campaign, our forces carried out an action against a unit of the occupying Turkish army soldiers positioned on Deriyê Xîz area in the territory of Deriyê Cafer in Hakkari's Yüksekova district, on July 21, at 20:00. Two enemy positions and one tent were destroyed and seven enemy soldiers were killed in the action.

Warplanes of the invading Turkish army bombed Martyr Rüstem area of Zap region in the Medya Defense Zones on July 22, at 10.00 and Stuna area in Hakkari’s Gever district, at 13.00.”
