HDP MPs detained for their political activity

Arrest and detention warrants have been issued for 13 HDP MPs by prosecutor's offices in several cities due to their refusal to give statements on inquiries regarding DTK, KCK and the Kobanê resistance of October 6-8.

The MPs were detained last night in police raids. The statement procedure in the courthouse started this morning. 

The arrest warrants are issued by public prosecutor's offices in Diyarbakır, Şırnak, Hakkari, Bingöl and Van. MPs are giving their statements separately and the prosecutor has referred Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş to the court with demand for his arrest.

Statement procedure for the HDP MPs detained last night has started in the courthouse. HDP Co-chairs and MPs were detained last night in house raids in line with the political genocide operations. Public prosecutor's offices in Diyarbakır, Şırnak, Hakkari, Bingöl and Van have issued arrest and detention warrants for the 13 HDP MPs due to their refusal to give statements on the inquiries on DTK, KCK and the Kobanê resistance of October 6-8.

The Interior Ministry announced that the arrest warrants were issued by public prosecutor's offices in Diyarbakır, Şırnak, Hakkari, Van and Bingöl. HDP MPs are accused of "membership to a terrorist organization", "acting in the name of a terrorist organization" and "propaganda for a terrorist organization".

The decree for the arrest of MPs Tuğba Hezer and Faysal Sarıyıldız couldn't be carried out because they are abroad. There are arrest warrants issued for MPs İmam Taşçıer and Nihat Akdoğan, and İmam Taşçıer was detained this morning in Ankara. Co-chairs Figen Yüksekdağ and Selahattin Demirtaş, Diyarbakır MPs Nursel Aydoğan, İdris Baluken and Ziya Pir, Şırnak MPs Leyla Birlik and Ferhat Encü, Hakkari MPs Selma Irmak and Abdullah Zeylan, Mardin MP Gülser Yıldırım and Ankara MPs Sırrı Süreyya Önder and İmam Taşçıer have been detained up to now.

Statement procedures in Diyarbakır courthouse for HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş and Diyarbakır MP Ziya Pir have been completed. The prosecutor referred Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş to the court with a demand for his arrest.

HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş pointed out the unlawfulness of the events in the prosecutor's office and said: "I have no demands and no expectations from you. Only my voters and my people can judge me for my political activities."

The HDP MPs were alleged with the following in the indictments:

HDP Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ: "Forming an organization with the intent to commit crimes, terrorist propaganda, open incitement to commit crimes, openly disparaging the state, the government, the judiciary, the military and the security forces of the Republic of Turkey, disrupting the unity of the state and the integrity of the country, praising crimes and criminals"

HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş: "Forming an organization with the intention to commit crimes, membership to an armed organization, committing crimes in the name of a terrorist organization, openly disparaging the Republic of Turkey, terrorist propaganda, openly disparaging the Turkish people, the Republic and the Parliament, insulting the President, openly disparaging the military and security forces of the state, PKK propaganda, incitement to animosity, insulting a public official for their duty, violating the Fundamental Provisions for Elections and the Electoral Roll Act No.298, knowingly aiding a terrorist organization, violating the Gatherings and Public Protests Act No.2911, insulting, open incitement to violence, open incitement to defy the law, slander of a public official, incitement to commit crimes and abetting criminal acts, attempting to disrupt the unity and the integrity of the state"

HDP Ankara MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder: "Violation of the Gatherings and Public Protests Act No.2911, forming an organization with the intention to commit crimes, membership to an armed organization, open incitement to animosity"

HDP Van MP Tuğba Hezer Öztürk (arrest warrant issued, abroad): "Terrorist propaganda, incitement to animosity, praising crimes and criminals"

HDP Hakkari MP Nihat Akdoğan has an arrest warrant against him and his procedure is still in progress.
