HDP delegation in Shengal says it will share its finding in the Turkish parliament

The HDP delegation in Shengal announced that it will share the report it will prepare with the public in the Parliament, and said: "The AKP government committed a crime here."

Following the invading attacks of the AKP-MHP government against Shengal, Maxmur and Dêrik, a delegation including 4 deputies from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) visited Shengal. The HDP delegation met with many institutions in Shengal and said it will report the content of the meetings to the public. HDP Batman MP Feleknaz Uca, HDP İzmir MP Murat Çepni, HDP Istanbul MP Hüda Kaya and Şırnak MP Hasan Özgüneş were part of the delegation.

The HDP delegation visited the Yazidi Freedom and Democracy Party (PADÊ) in Sinunê today. The delegation was welcomed by PADÊ co-chairs Ömer Salih and Zehra Sileman and PADÊ members. After the visit, the HDP delegation went to the Xanesor People's Assembly, which was bombed by Turkish warplanes on 11 December 2021. The HDP delegation made a press statement in front of the Xanesor People's Assembly building.

Özgüneş said the HDP stands by the people of Shengal

HDP deputy Hasan Özgüneş said that they came to Shengal to share the problems and sufferings of the Yazidi people. Özgüneş condemned the attacks carried out by the Turkish state and ISIS against Shengal and said: “We in Turkey want democracy and freedom, therefore we express our support to our Yazidi people. We will continue to stand by our people against all massacres and brutality. From whichever side the attacks come, we will stand against them.”

Çepni: The AKP carried out crimes in Shengal

HDP deputy Murat Çepni said at the beginning of his message that he came to Shengal as a Turkish socialist to find out the truth with his own eyes. He added that the delegation is in Shengal on behalf of the Turkish people. "We are in Shengal on behalf of all freedom and peace-loving peoples. The people of Shengal want to stand on their own feet with their thoughts and beliefs. We saw the reality of democratic society in Shengal. We will share all our observations in Shengal with the public in Ankara. The AKP government's policies in Shengal represent a crime."

Kaya: The AKP even bombed hospitals

HDP deputy Hüda Kaya drew attention to the resistance of the Yazidi community against ISIS and added that as a Turkish and Muslim woman, she came to support the people of Shengal. “The Yazidi community is making great efforts to build a new life. Hospitals, public assemblies, women's and children's living quarters are bombed in Shengal.”

Uca: The AKP wants to exterminate the Yazidi people

HDP deputy Feleknaz Uca, drawing attention to the culture, history and resistance of Shengal, said that she visited “Mount Sengal, a mountain that has a language and could speak this resistance. We know that these attacks against the Yazidi community are very serious. The AKP wants to exterminate the Yazidis. We will share our report with the people in Turkey's Parliament.”

Silêman: Everyone should know that we will protect our people

PADÊ co-chair Zehra Silêman reacted to the Turkish state's attacks on Shengal and said: “We want to protect our culture and our people. We want the HDP delegation to convey this to the whole world when it shares its report in the Turkish parliament.”
