HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) Co-President Selahattin Demirtaş, Ministers Ali Haydar Konca and Müslüm Doğan, deputies and a large number of civilians have left for Cizre district of Şırnak in solidarity with the locals against the ongoing crackdown and attacks by Turkish state forces.

The convoy was stopped by security forces after leaving Mardin's Midyat district, and denied permission to move further.

HDP deputies who held talks with Turkish officials were told that they wouldn't be allowed to enter Cizre in line with an order by the Minister of the Interior.

As thousands of people keep waiting on the road leading to Şırnak's İdil district by chanting the slogan "Bijî berxwedan Cizirê" [Long Live Cizre Resistance], a number of soldiers have been deployed on hills around the İdil road.
