Guerrillas: We won’t allow the Turkish army to remain in peace nor retreat in peace

The guerrillas taking part in the Revolutionary Operation in Girê Amediye Resistance Area state that they will not allow the Turkish army to remain in peace nor retreat in peace.

The guerrillas have launched a new offensive in the western Zap region. The aim of the revolutionary operation, in which mobile guerrilla units are deployed, is to thwart the Turkish army's attempts to get stationed on summits in the region with the help of the KDP, the ruling party in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and to liberate the region from the occupying forces. On Monday, the HPG (People's Defence Forces) and the YJA Star (Free Women's Troops) carried out a series of actions in three locations in the Girê Amêdîyê region in western Zap, killing 49 soldiers, destroying 21 military tents and twelve positions of the invading forces.

The guerrillas taking part in the revolutionary operation in the Şehîd Delil combat zone in the western Zap region told ANF about their preparations and prospects.

Têkoşin Bilikî, a guerrilla in the ranks of the YJA Star, said that liberation, especially for women, is only possible through armed struggle. She stated: "Neither liberation nor freedom can be realised without armed struggle. From Zîlan we have learnt what self-sacrifice means, from Sara what it means to become one with the party, and from Berîtan we have learnt how to fight. The many companions in the field and in the battle tunnels are like them, and are now becoming trailblazers themselves. Inspired by them, we are preparing for this revolutionary operation today. The most important phase of the war is preparation. We have completed our reconnaissance, information gathering and planning work, we have mastered the weapons we will use and, most importantly, our moral motivation is at the highest level. We are convinced that we will definitely emerge victorious from this operation. We believe in victory."

"Whatever they may do, we will expel them out of there"

HPG guerrilla Çetin Serhat said: "We will not allow the Turkish soldiers to live in peace at Girê Amêdîyê, and we will not allow them to withdraw from there just like that. Our companions who fought in this area last year set a concrete example of this. But this year we want to teach the Turkish army an even bigger lesson. We are not just saying that. We will definitely put it into practice. The Turkish army is also preparing intensively, but we are constantly monitoring their movements. No matter what preparations they make, the guerrillas have developed tactics against them. We are now setting out with the aim of expelling the Turkish army out of there."

"We will give the necessary response"

HPG guerrilla Hewrê Bêkes said the following about the preparations for the offensive: "The Turkish army has carried out operations in the Şehîd Delil area in the western Zap region this year, just like last year. However, this does not mean that the occupiers have achieved their goal. They want to achieve the borders they dream of by occupying South Kurdistan with the support of the Barzani family. As mobile guerrilla units, we want to give the necessary response to this occupation attempt, especially in the Girê Amêdîyê resistance area. We are making our preparations within this framework. We are preparing in the spirit of Comrade Baran, who fell a martyr in the action at Girê Hekarî last year."
