YJA Star Guerrilla Sema Silav and HPG Guerrilla Kerim Botan in Media Defense Zones spoke to ANF on the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the 15 August Initiative.

HPG Guerrilla Kerim Botan said that the 15 August Initiative was a great day of resurrection in Kurdish history and added: "I salute this day, our friends, and Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan], who stood up against the enemy on the battle fronts for the martyrs of the Kurdistan revolution, our people and the freedom of our people."

15 August is the day of the success of the Kurdish people

Guerrilla Botan said that the 15 August Initiative was a celebration of the success of the people of Kurdistan and added: "15August represents the resurrection of the PKK spirit for us. The level the PKK has reached today has been achieved thanks to the resurrection initiative that started on 15 August. All achievements are for the freedom of our people. 15 August should never be forgotten. 15 August should take its place in people's emotional world. Those who are on the war fronts today are the fighters who follow in the footsteps of Egîd and Zilan. They are the people who lead the soul of 15 August to success. It is the guerrillas who lead to success. On this occasion, I wish success to our friends and people on the war fronts."

We will ensure freedom for Leader Apo

YJA Star Guerrilla Sema Silav said: "I salute 15 August, the day of all our patriotic people and our guerrillas. I salute Leader Apo and the martyrs of the revolution. The 15 August Initiative was an important step both for our movement and our people. It was the beginning of a new life not only for the Kurdish people, but for all peoples. It was an awakening and self-knowledge for our people. Our people and our movement keep that spirit alive today. This spirit is seen on battle fronts. As guerrillas, and as a movement, we want to ensure freedom for Leader Apo with the spirit of 15 August. We want to live in a free country with Leader Apo. That is our claim and I believe we will achieve it."
