Guerrillas destroy two Turkish military positions in Zap

HPG/YJA Star guerrillas shot one Turkish soldier dead and destroyed two military positions of the Turkish army in Zap.

The Press Centre of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement providing information on the latest actions by guerrillas and attacks by the Turkish army in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

The statement released on Friday includes the following:

“As part of the Bazên Zagrosê Revolutionary Campaign in the Zap region,

On March 24, at 00:10, the Turkish soldiers in Kela Bêdewê came under fire by our forces with heavy weapons from two directions. At least one soldier was killed and two military positions were destroyed.

This action was carried out in memory of all the immortal heroes of Kurdistan as part of the Week of Heroism, March 21-28.

On March 24, at 17:40, the Girê Bihar, Şehîd Şahîn and Şehîd Rustem areas in the Zap region were shelled 3 times by Turkish fighter jets. On the same day, at 18:00, the Girê FM area was bombed with howitzers fired from the Turkish outposts on the border line.

On March 24, at 17:30, the vicinity of the Lolan River in the Xakurke region was shelled by Turkish fighter jets.

On March 24 and 25, the Girê Hakkarî area in ​​the Metîna region was shelled 4 times by Turkish fighter jets.”
