HPG and YJA Star guerrillas celebrated the 2022 Newroz with great enthusiasm in the Metina region of the Medya Defense Areas.

The guerrillas, who started the celebrations in the early hours of the morning, danced halay around the Newroz fire they lit.

In the celebration held under the rain, a speech was delivered remembering "Blacksmith Kawa's resistance against the oppressors. This resistance is emerging more and more in the reality of the PKK today. Comrade Mazlum Doğan's resistance against the invaders continues today. Guerrillas are resisting in the face of the enemy's ongoing oppression of the Kurdish people. The arrival of spring is also very important for the guerrillas for new operations and new successes. We must prepare ourselves for new moves on the occasion of Newroz. We celebrate the Newroz of Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] and the people of Kurdistan."

Speaking to ANF during the celebration, the guerrillas stated that they will make the 2022 Newroz successful with the "Dem Dema Azadiye" operation. The guerrillas, who said that great resistance and heroism took place in 2021, added that the Freedom Movement will never be defeated.

Celebrating the 2022 Newroz in the mountains of Kurdistan, the guerrillas emphasized that they will continue to resist until Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan is freed.
