The KNK has put the final touches to the preparations ongoing for one month for a joint platform on national unity which will be held in Sulaymaniyah on 15th and 16th July.

The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) has put the final touches to the preparations ongoing for one month for the establishment of a joint platform on national unity which will be held on 15th and 16th July in Sulaymaniyah city of South Kurdistan.

A tour of talks was initiated and followed through by Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) after a press release on June 12 in Sulaymaniyah to prepare a foundation for a joint platform on national unity. In this scope, meetings have been held with dozens of parties, organisations, political institutions and intellectuals from Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Kurdistan.

THE FIRST STEPS WERE TAKEN ON 12TH JUNE

The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) delegation led by KNK Deputy Co-chair Tahir Kemalizade said in a statement on 12th June: "In such a fragile and crucial phase, we the Kurdistan National Congress will take on the task to remind all political parties once again of the historic responsibilities. This historic responsibility has to be carried by us all. This is a national duty to ensure an end to the past which the Kurdish people suffered and to the devastation of Kurdistan." The diplomatic talks started right after this statement was made.

“ALL PARTIES EXPRESSED APPROVAL”

The KNK delegation met with representatives and leaders of all parties which are active in all four parts of Kurdistan, and expressed opinions on issues of 'national unity', 'importance of national unity' and 'national coordination'. The KNK delegation noted down all proposals and critics of the pollitical parties to forward them in the joint platform for discussion.

KNK Deputy Co-Chair Tahir Kemalizade spoke to ANF about the meetings and said: "All the political and intellectual entities which we talked with, expressed the urgency of the Kurdish people to create consistent unity in the face of the situation the Middle East is being through. They shared with us their proposals for its realizement as well. We noted everything down."

THE DAY OF THE PLATFORM IS SET

Meetings in Hewler and Sulaymaniyah of Southern Kurdistan were followed by those in Amed of Northern Kurdistan and in Cizîrê, Kobanê and Efrîn Canton of Western Kurdistan, which all were received posistively by the parties and organisations. KNK later announced in a press conference on 3rd July the date set for the joint platform, stating that 300 to 350 delegates were expected to attend the initial platform in Sulaymaniyah to discuss and establish a foundation for national unity.

MEETINGS WITH INTELLECTUALS AND WRITERS

The KNK delegation held meetings with intellectuals, writers, journalists, academics, wise men, lawyers, peshmerga in pension and important personalities from all four parts of Kurdistan and in Europe as well, to hear and include also their thoughts and opinions.

This huge task was fulfilled by different KNK delegations at the same time, which seperately held meetings with over 500 people from the aforementioned entities in all four parts of Kurdistan.

THE DIVERSITY OF KURDISTAN WILL BE REPRESENTED

The tour of talks included representatives of Êzidî, Kakaî, Hewramî, Shabak, Feylî, Alevî and Yarsanî to secure the fullest diversity in the first joint platform for national unity. KNK member Ferhat Dostki stated that the delegation requested all these independent elements of the Kurdish society to attend the platform, and he said, "Also these talks have been positive. All these elements assured they will attend the meeting."

300 TO 350 DELEGATES ARE EXPECTED

Based on one month of preparation in all four parts of Kurdistan and in Europe for the initial conference, 300 to 350 delegates in a total are expected to attend the joint platform on July 15 and 16 in Suleymaniyah city of Southern Kurdistan.

OFFICIAL INVITATIONS ALREADY SENT
