VILLAGERS: SOLDIERS MAKE SURE FORESTS BURN COMPLETELY
Numerous plants and animals were destroyed in the fire that burned hectares of land and forest. Artillery units from Çalışkan Border Base in Silopi bombarded Cudi Mountain and caused a fire in the nearby Sêvokê region. Villagers reported that soldiers were setting on fire the areas that were not burned after the artillery attack.
The fire on the side of Cudi Mountain that faces Şırnak city center has been continuing for days. After Turkish soldiers’ prevention of villagers who were trying to put out the fire, flames expanded over to Şehrevan and Xarêkuna regions. People marched to Cudi Mountain through Nerex village in order to put out the fire.
KASRİK GENDARME GUARD POST PREVENTED ATTEMPTS TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE
The fire in Berêmirê are caused by artillery fire from the military base in Güçlükonak continues, and soldiers from Kasrik Gendarme guard post prevented the villagers aiming to extinguish the fire from reaching the area.
CIVILIANS UNDER RISK OF BEING POSIONED
Civilians who went to Cudi Mountain in order to put out the fire are under the risk of being poisoned by intensive smoke, and people from Şırnak and nearby villages continue to go to the areas despite the fact that communication with the villagers who are already in Cudi Mountain has recently been cut off.
