Families objecting to the prevention of HPG, YPG and YPJ fighters’ bodies’ delivery through Habur Border Gate started a tent protest in the Başverimli (Tılqebin) neighborhood of Şırnak’s Silopi district.
Gendarme threatened the families with removing the tents, and the families alongside demonstrators are expected to march to the border later today.
On the fifth day of prevention at Habur Border Gate of the delivery of bodies of 13 YPG, YPJ and HPG members, who fell fighting in Rojava and Shengal, families of the martyrs started a tent protest in the Başverimli (Tılqebin) neighborhood of Şırnak’s Silopi district. Numerous armored police vehicles surrounded the families who set up tents in the neighborhood. After the state’s recent refusal of delivering the martyrs’ bodies, gendarme officials threatened HDP representatives by saying that the soldiers and police officers had not come to the neighborhood for negotiations but for removing the tents and intervening in the situation if the tents were not allowed to be removed.
HDP representatives stated that they were in the neighborhood for expressing their democratic objections, and would continue their protests until the bodies are delivered to the families.
As tensions continue in the district, families are expected to march to Habur Border Gate later today.
