The vigil at the Kobanê border has been organized in response to escalating attacks by the Turkish state and its proxies on Rojava. The action entered its 15th day. The vigil is taking place at the Kobanê border in Suruç (Pirsûs), a district of Urfa (Riha).
The action has been promoted by the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), and the Free Women’s Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA).
On the 14th day of the vigil, participants included DEM Party Urfa MP Ferit Şenyaşar, his mother, justice icon Emine Şenyaşar, members of the Amed Labor and Democracy Platform, the Urfa Peace Mothers Assembly, and numerous citizens.
DEM Party Urfa co-chair Sema Aişeoğlu underlined the significance of the action, and said: "The Rojava revolution is a women’s revolution. It is everyone’s responsibility to protect and defend it."
Çağla Salar spoke on behalf of the Amed Labor and Democracy Platform. She reaffirmed solidarity with Kobanê, declaring: "We will stand with Kobanê until the very end."
Emine Şenyaşar expressed her grief and outrage. "What do they want from Kobanê?" She asked and continued: "This cruelty must end. For seven years, I have fought for justice despite the oppression I’ve endured. They killed my children, but I never stopped demanding justice. I will continue to demand justice for Kobanê as well."
DEM Party MP Ferit Şenyaşar said: "Turkey must stop viewing Kobanê as a threat. We condemn the attacks on Rojava carried out through these proxy forces." He added: “Defending Rojava is a responsibility we all share."
