Cemil Hewrami, President of the Dêrîn (former) Peshmerga Community, made a press statement about the current situation in Rojava, North-East Syria, which is witnessing intense attacks after the fall of the Assad regime and mass displacement from the besieged Shehba region.
Hewrami said that as the Dêrîn Peshmerga Community, they respect the will of the Syrian people and the people of Rojava. He emphasised that all components and all nations in Syria should be represented in the new Syrian government to be formed.
Cemil Hewrami called on the government to open the Sêmalka Border Crossing which connects the Federal Kurdistan Region and Northern Syria and said: “The only way to deliver aid to Rojava is the Sêmalka Border Crossing, which was closed by the Kurdistan Region government. Since there is an ongoing war in Rojava, we demand that the crossing be opened in order to deliver medical needs to Rojava.”
Highlighting the stability in the region under the control of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Hewrami stated that the Syrian people are heading towards Rojava and this may cause an accumulation and render Rojava in need of urgent help.
Regarding the situation in the Kurdistan Region, Cemil Hewrami stated the following: “We demand the formation of a new government in the Kurdistan Region as soon as possible. The region is going through a very difficult process. This process is not in the interest of the Kurdistan Region. We hope that the government is aware of the situation of citizens who have not received their salaries for nearly three months.”
