One Special Forces police officer was killed, three soldiers and a village guard were injured on 21 May as the Turkish army operation continue in Lice-Kulp-Genç triangle on Diyarbakýr-Bingöl border.
Clashes broke out in the area during the most recent air supported operation which has been joined by thousands of special forces police, gendarmeries and village guards.
The clash and casualties were also confirmed by Diyarbakýr Governor Mustafa Toprak.
A large number of special operations teams were sent to the region where
the operation is reported to continue.
As clashes between the Turkish army and HPG guerrillas intensify and become severer, the Turkish army has launched new operations in the rural areas of Dersim and Bitlis.
In a statement on recent actions by guerrillas, Peoples Defense Forces Press Office (HPG-BIM) reported that nine soldiers were killed in three separate guerrilla actions in Mardin and Þýrnak.
One soldier died in the guerrilla attack which targeted the military post in Xerzikêerebo village of Mardin on 20 May.
Another attack by guerrillas was carried out against a military post in the area on early Monday morning, reported HPG-BIM and noted that five soldiers died and three others were injured in the attack.
The statement added that; Three soldiers died in another guerrilla attack which targeted a group of soldiers on Uludere borderline of Þýrnak province.
Giving information about the number of casualties in recent clashes, HPG-BIM stated that; More than 18 soldiers were killed and three guerrillas lost their life in clashes since 18 May. The identities of three guerrillas will be released as soon as made clear by our side.
HPG-BIM also noted that preparations are underway for an expansive operation near Türkmen and Çiftlik villages of Doðubayazýt/Aðrý since 20 May. The operation in the rural areas of Hozat/Dersim continues for two days, added the statement.
On the other hand, one other operation was launched early on Monday morning in the rural area of Güroymak district of Bitlis, according to reports received from local sources.
