The people of Van (Wan) spoke to ANF about the vigil in front of Van Metropolitan Municipality against the possibility of a trustee.

Vigil against the trustees

Zekiya Kaya: As mothers, we are on vigil at the municipality against a possible arbitrary trustee coup. They arbitrarily punished our mayor. This is an insult, it is unlawful. We are here to protect our municipality. We won’t accept trustees. Trustees meab plunder. On the one hand, the government speaks about peace, while on the other hand, they ignore our will. They cannot fool us; they can only fool themselves. We will protect our municipality no matter what.

Hüsamettin Kızıltaş: The people of Van are protecting their municipality. Let everyone remember the resistance of 1 and 2 April [2024]. The people of Van have always resisted. We will not surrender our municipality to anyone, we will continue to resist. We will not allow the trustees to rule. We are here because we do not accept the usurpation of our will. No one can ignore our will. I call on all our people to gather in front of the municipality and protect their will.

Keve Işık: Today, they punished our co-mayor. Our mayor did not deserve this punishment. We, as mothers, stand by our mayor. We are here to protect our municipality. We are not surrendering our will to anyone. We do not accept the plunder of trustees. We won this municipality with our work. This municipality is ours. We will not allow them to take this municipality.

We will continue to resist

Herdem Acar: As always, we were faced with a decision that did not comply with the law. The people of Van gathered in front of the municipality with all their strength and reaction to once again claim their will. Our resistance will continue; we will claim our will and our municipality. We are expecting the people of Van to the squares to claim their will.
