Children detained in Roboski tortured by soldiers

On June 29, Turkish soldiers saying Allahuekber staged crackdown on the local people who reacted to the recently enhanced military deployment in Roboski village in Uludere district of Şırnak. Following the attack with real bullets and tear gas which left Bedri Encü wounded, 4 minors were taken into custody.

The minors were held at Ortasu Gendarmerie Command during the night before being taken to Uludere State Hospital and then to Uludere District Gendarmerie Command early June 30 morning when they were referred to a court.

They were subjected to supervised release after giving their statements at the court.

One among the minors, who are all aged 13-14, told that soldiers continuously insulted and tortured them with sticks.

The minor who got bruises on his back and shoulders said that; "They insulted and brutally assaulted us as they took us into custody, saying that 'You threw stones at us'. They hit our heads with nightsticks."
