A ceremony has been held for HPG Command Council member Önder Aslan (Şervan Varto) who has lost his life in the most recent airstrikes of the Turkish army against the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones.
The funeral ceremony was participated by Aslan's family, HPG Command member Bawer Dersim and dozens of guerrillas.
Speaking here, HPG Command Council member Bawer Dersim remarked that the Turkish army and the AKP will burn themselves in this fire they've started, and underlined that guerrillas will take no step back in the face of the increasingly ongoing attacks targeting them. Stressing that the guerrilla will appall Erdoğan, Davutoğlu and the Turkish military, Dersim said; “This is what the martyrdom of comrade Şervan commands us.”
Pledging to keep Varto's struggle going and alive, and to bring AKP and Erdoğan to account for this, Dersim said; “Erdoğan, Davutoğlu and the Turkish army will once again be mistaken, and condemned before the history and humanity.”
Following the speeches here, Şervan Varto's body was seen off from Medya Defense Zones in company with the slogan “Şehit Namırın” [Martyrs are immortal].
