Binarê Qandil people: Turkish attacks put our lives in danger

Women in Binarê Qandil protest against the Turkish bombing of the region and see their lives threatened.

The invasion attacks of the Turkish state against South Kurdistan continue with the support of the southern Kurdistan’s ruling party KDP and have expanded in recent days. Air raids were carried out in many places. The bombardments and air strikes have particularly damaged civil infrastructure and agricultural land. Women from Binarê Qandil expressed their concern to the RojNews news agency about the Turkish state's attacks.

Fatme Bapîr said: "We live in fear day and night. We pray that the shepherds will return alive from the pastures. We cannot keep our animals in peace on the pastures. Every day, the environment of our homes is bombed. Everyone needs to get involved for the bombardment to stop. We direct our call to all sides to stop the bombing. Everyone should live in peace, nobody should fear for his life. Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government must put pressure on Turkey for the bombing to stop."

Fatme Sêwedin said: "Turkish fighters bombed areas near our apartment a few days ago. A shepherd could barely be saved. But he is still in bad condition because of the smoke from the bomb. Many sheep have died because of the smoke, many more injured. Because of the intense bombing we sat in the middle of smoke and dust. We were very scared together with our children. Dust and smoke hung in the air until the morning of the next day. The Iraqi government could see to it that the bombing stops. We do not know why it does not do that. The population also does not protest enough against the bombing. Actions against the attacks should be effective. I hope the bombing ends and everyone can live in peace.”
