Azadiya Welat journalist laid to rest

A journalist from the Kurdish newspaper Azidiya Welat, Metin Dursun, who had a motorcycle accident 3 months ago, has lost his life in the Diyarbakır Selahattin Eyyubi Hospital.

A journalist from the Kurdish newspaper Azidiya Welat, Metin Dursun, who had a motorcycle accident 3 months ago, has lost his life in the Diyarbakır Selahattin Eyyubi Hospital. He was laid to rest in the village of Selamet near Kızıltepe yesterday.

Metin Dursun had an accident on 21 January on his motorcycle and had been in Selahhatin Eyyubi Hospital in Diyarbakır since then. He died despite all the treatment he received in the hospital.

His body was first taken to Mardin, where he was greeted by hundreds of people forming a convoy to Selamet. A funeral ceremony was held in his village attended by his colleagues and DBP and HDP executives as well as members of MEYA-DER, KURDİ-DER, NGOs and the co-mayors of Kızıltepe.

His coffin was carried by his colleagues and he was laid to rest in his home village while thousands chanted: “Martyrs are immortal”.
