The Commission of Return which was established in Suruç district of Urfa following the liberation of Kobanê town from ISIS gangs last month stated that 550 families from Kobanê have turned back to their hometown so far.

Executives of the Commission who are coordinating the returns to Kobanê said that all the Kobanê people in North Kurdistan are applying to the Commission, which is giving service at DBP (Party of Democratic Regions) Suruç building, in order to return as soon as possible.

After crossing into Kobanê from Mürşitpınar border crossing under the coordination of the Commission, the people are welcomed and settled in houses as a result of a coordinated work in the war-torn town of West Kurdistan, Rojava.

According to the information obtained from members of the Commission of Return, hundreds of Kobanê people are applying to return every day, while around 10 families made up of some 400-500 people are returning to Kobanê every day.

According to the Commission, 550 Kobanê families consisting of 400 women and 4,000 children have turned back home so far. 430 of these families were being sheltered in Suruç, Antep, Amed and Malatya.

In addition to those crossing the border gate, thousands of other Kobanê people are reported to have crossed the wire fences at the border into their home, all in the excitement of being back home which they were forced to leave in the face of intensified attacks by inhumane ISIS gangs.

Ahmedê Cido who is among those returning to the village of Qislê said they had felt home in North Kurdistan thanks to the help and support of the people here, adding; "Together with the people of North Kurdistan, we rendered the artifical borders meaningless. We are now turning back home thanks to the YPG/YPJ fighters who have presented us freedom by fighting in Kobanê at the cost of their lives. From now on, we will be feeling the same emotion and give the same struggle with the people of North Kurdistan."

Another Kobanê citizen Yazê Mislim who is sheltered at Kader Ortakaya Tent City in Suruç said they were looking forward to turn back home, adding: "We want to return and celebrate the Newroz on Mistenur Hill."

60-year-old Nahile Heci who is also staying at Kader Ortakaya Tent City said they missed Kobanê a lot and wanted to return in the soonest time, stressing that: "We will go and rebuild Kobanê together with the people of North Kurdistan."
