4 soldiers killed as guerrilla resistance against Turkish occupation continues

Four more members of the occupation forces were killed in guerrilla actions as the resistance against Turkish invasion in guerrilla areas continues unabated.

Resistance continues unabated to the Turkish invasion of the guerrilla-held Medya Defence Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). According to the statement released by the Press Office of the People's Defence Forces (HPG) on Tuesday, four soldiers of the Turkish army were killed during guerrilla actions from 27 to 29 August (today). 

Heftanîn region

On 21 August, YJA Star guerrillas seized a military camera in the Xantur area.

On 25 August, guerrillas struck and damaged a military position on Girê Koordîne in the Bektorya area with heavy weapons.

Zap region

On 28 August, guerrillas hit the occupation forces in Sîda Resistance Area.

On 27 August, YJA Star guerrillas struck the occupation forces with heavy weapons and damaged three positions.

On 28 August, the guerrillas carried out repeated strikes against the occupation forces from midnight to evening with heavy weapons. The actions left four soldiers dead and four positions severely damaged. In addition, a surveillance camera and a load of explosives of the Turkish troops were destroyed by YJA Star guerrillas.

On 29 August, YJA Star guerrillas damaged a position of the occupation forces as a result of strikes with heavy weapons.

Attacks by the Turkish army

On the other hand, HPG reported continued attacks by the Turkish army in the guerrilla areas. Accordingly, fighter jets carried out at least six air strikes on 28-29 August. Five of these attacks were directed against Gundê Şêlazê and Gundê Bêşîlî in Metîna, while another targeted the Girê Amêdîyê Resistance Area in the western part of the Zap region. In addition, various areas in Zap, Metîna and Xakurke were bombed dozens of times by artillery.
