Actions by HPG guerrillas in response to the military activity in guerrilla zones and attacks in North Kurdistan have left 18 soldiers and 11 members of special operation teams dead.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office has released a statement regarding the ongoing bombardments of the Turkish army against guerrilla zones and the guerrilla actions in North Kurdistan.

The statement provided the following details about the bombing campaign of the Turkish military targeting the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones;

Xinere

Marty Agit Park and Valley, Martyr Delil hamlet area between 14:00 - 15:00 on July 30,

Dola Anê between 17:00 – 18:30,

Dola Anê, Dola Çıluçar and Ermuş areas between 22:30 – 23:30,

Zagros

Hill Dem and Hill Brusk areas between 16:30 – 18:00 on July 30,

Hill Martyr Hozan between 20:00 – 21:00.

Avashin

Tabura Ereba, Mamreşo, Martyr Gafur, Şukê and Martyr Agit areas between 14:00 - 20:30 on July 30.

Villages of Rıskê and Ekrê at the border between 14:00-15:30 on July 30. The bombardment started a fire in the area.

Heftanin

Martyr Renas and Deriye Davetiya areas between14:00 - 16:30 on July 30,

Deriye Davetiya hill at 00:45 on July 31.

Gare

Şehitlik (Martyrs' Cemetery) area, Çemşerite village, Ergene, Kanî Kontra, Kanî Jiyanê areas between 19:00 – 00:00 on July 30. The fire caused by the bombardment has damaged the entire field of Çemşerite village.

Metina

Kanî Gozê, Serê Metina and Yekmal village between 14:30 – 17:00 on July 30. The bombardment here also started a fire.

MORTAR AND HOWITZER ATTACKS ON THE BORDER LINE

HPG continued by listing the howitzer and mortar attacks conducted by Turkish troops from the following guard posts targeting the guerrilla areas;

Oremar guard post in Yüksekova district of Hakkari targeted the Martyr Gafur area located on the border line of Avashin between 19:30 - 22:30 on July 30,

Hill Maymun guard post on the border line of Heftanin targeted Martyr Kendal area between 00:00 – 01:30 on July 31,

Yekmal guard post targeted Bektorya area at 22:00 on July 30 and 02:00 on July 31.

Hill Aruş guard post on the border line of Metina targeted Hill Xıyara area between 00:00 - 01:00 on July 31,

Gundıkê Mellê guard post in Şırnak targeted Mamçela area between 02:00 - 03:00 on July 31.

ACTIONS BY GUERRILLAS

The statement provided the following details regarding the actions HPG guerrillas have carried out in response to the military activity and attacks in North Kurdistan;

A sabotage action targeted armored vehicles of the Turkish army on the road between Uludere and Segirkê districts of Şırnak at 11:30 on July 30, which left one vehicle damaged while the casualties couldn't be verified. A fire started in the area due to the bombardment of the Turkish army after the action, and the local people attempting to intervene it were hindered by Turkish soldiers.

Four soldiers were killed in an action which targeted a troop deployed in Gelika Rıza area of Şırnak at 19:00 on July 30. Turkish army shelled the surrounding areas after the action, and started a fire in the area.

Four other soldiers were killed in an action that targeted the main entrance gate of the Şabanê Barracks in Şırnak at 21:30 on July 29.

After closing the Şırnak-Hakkari road, performing ID checks and also informing the people about the process at 14:00 on July 30, guerrillas burned two vehicles belonging to the Turkish army, and destroyed another vehicle transporting military supplies to Çelê guard post.

Another action targeted Turkish troops on the hill Öncebatan in Gırê Cotyar hamlet of Botan's Gabar area at 08:50 on July 31.

A separate action targeted the Girê Cotyar Battalion, the results of which couldn't be verified, and after which Turkish army shelled the Gabar area with two Cobra type helicopters, starting a fire in this area as well.

A sabotage action near Genç district of Bingöl targeted a train transporting military ammunition from Ankara to Iran at 09:30 on July 30. Six wagons of the train were completely destroyed in the action after which an operation was launched in the area with the participation of village guards.

Two suicide attacks with unverified results were conducted against soldiers at Malabadi guard post in Amed at 19:30 on July 30.

A gun attack with unverified results targeted an armored vehicle in Fiskaya neighborhood of Amed on July 25.

One policeman was wounded in an intervention attempt against guerrillas performing road check in Akdeniz district of Mersin on July 27.

An action targeting the first road checkpoint of Turkish soldiers on the road between Ağrı's Doğubeyazıt district and Iran at 09:00 on July 29 left an armored vehicle completely destroyed, and six members of special operations teams standing nearby dead.

A following action which targeted the second road checkpoint of soldiers on the same road, 2 km to the first one, left five members of special operations teams dead, and a A-4 heavy weapon installed on an armored vehicle destroyed.

Both actions have also left eight members of special operations teams wounded, including three critically.

One other action targeted a train traveling from Sarıkamış district of Kars to Khorasan city of Iran, and forced the locomotive to stop on July 30. A series of actions against the soldiers that came to the scene for intervention two hours later left five soldiers dead and three others wounded.

In a following clash with the soldiers retreating from the scene, five more soldiers were killed.
