People’s Defense Forces Press and Communications Center (HPG-BIM) released a statement about the Turkish state’s invasion attacks against Southern Kurdistan lands ongoing since March 11.

The statement by HPG Press Office said the following;

“At 17:40 on April 5, warplanes of the invading Turkish army intensely shelled the Hill Lelikan and Hill Kevortê areas within Southern Kurdistan boundaries with the support of unmanned aerial vehicles. At around 22:30 the same day, the invading forces carried out even more intensified aerial attacks on the same areas.

Following the bombardments, Turkish Sikorsky helicopters airdropped soldiers on Hill Lelikan, where the Turkish forces came under intense fire from our forces. Strikes left a Sikorsky type helicopter damaged. This hill, where heavy clashes took place between the Turkish army and our forces, was again bombarded intensely by the invading army.

At between 10:00 – 11:00 on April 6, Turkish jets bombed Evdılkofi foothills and Ermuş area. At 15:00 the same day, our forces carried out a sabotage action against an enemy unit on move on Hill Lelikan, which left 10 soldiers dead.

On April 7 (today), at between 05:00 – 05:30, Turkish jets shelled Lelikan foothills and surroundings of Lolan river. At 08:20 this morning, our forces carried out a sabotage action against an enemy group on move on Hill Ali Direj. 2 enemy soldiers were killed and 2 others got wounded as a result.

As the invading Turkish army’s operation continues since March 11, heavy fighting continues on Hill Lelikan. Our guerrilla forces are mounting great resistance against the Turkish army’s operation in Southern Kurdistan. Unable to fight against our forces, the Turkish army seeks to advance using advance technics, and is bombing all areas from the air and ground indiscriminately. Receiving support from some local forces anf Gerdi guards, the Turkish army is trying to expand its operation.

As part of its ongoing invasion attacks, Turkish army is deliberately targeting the civilian areas in the region, seeking to make the people migrate and depopulate the region.”
