The Defense Group for Sharifah Mohammadi announced that the hearing of the trial was postponed.
Women's rights defender Sharifah Mohammadi (45) from the city of Rasht was arrested in 2023 on charges of "making propaganda against the state" and was sentenced to death by the Iranian Revolutionary Court on 4 July 2024. However, following appeals, the death sentence given to her was overturned on 12 October.
The Defense Group for Sharifah Mohammadi announced in a statement on 10 November that the first hearing of the retrial would be held at the Revolutionary Court of Rasht on 14 November .
However, on Friday, the group said that the trial was postponed, apparently due to the judge's absence.
The group thinks that this postponement was actually promoted in order to prevent Sharifah Mohammadi from being retried, and added that the postponement of the hearing was also a violation of the rights of detainees.
The statement did not specify when the new hearing will be.
