Siirt Bar Association visits Şenyaşar Family on vigil for justice

Siirt Bar Association President and members visited the Şenyaşar Family, holding a vigil for justice for family members killed by AKP people in 2018.

Emine Şenyaşar, who lost his wife and two sons in a massacre by AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguard and relatives on 14 June 2018 in the Suruç district of Urfa, and his son Ferit Şenyaşar, who was injured in the attack, continue their Justice Vigil amid solidarity visits. The family, who are holding the vigil at their home in Suruç at the weekend, came to the courthouse in Urfa to meet with a group from the Siirt Bar Association. Association President Kenan Bilge and members of the board of directors paid a visit to the family to show their support. Board members of the Urfa Bar Association also accompanied the group. The family greeted the delegation with banners that read, "All we want is justice."

Ferit Şenyaşar told the delegation about their fight for justice, saying, "Previously, the 7th file prosecutor indicated that they had identified 23 people. However, the 9th prosecutor, who is now reviewing the file, states that it is "unsolved." How is it that this atrocity was carried out in front of hundreds of public employees remains 'unsolved'?

'NOTHING IS POSSIBLE WITHOUT JUSTICE'

"The file has become a legal disgrace," said Kenan Bilge, Chairman of the Siirt Bar Association, who noted that they closely follow the family’s quest for justice, and added "There is not even an indictment yet. I am hopeful that with the help of all non-governmental organizations involved in the case, progress will be achieved and this unlawful situation will be resolved. Nothing in a society can be established unless justice is secured. We stand with the Şenyaşar family. I hope that justice will be served as soon as possible."
