Prisoner Şeker: On hunger strike until isolation is lifted
Political prisoner Şevket Şeker who is on hunger strike stated that no vitamins are given to prisoners on hunger strike, especially the important B1.
Political prisoner Şevket Şeker, who is on hunger strike in Antep H Type Closed prison demanding the end of isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, sent a message.
Şeker sent a message to the Mesopotamian Agency (MA), through his lawyer, stating that no vitamins are given to prisoners on hunger strike, especially the important B1.
In his message Şeker complained about a number of repressive measures imposed on prisoners on hunger strike. “Yen Yaşam newspaper has not been given to us for 2 weeks. - said Şeker - Some books we were holding in our dormitories were confiscated. We were not able to get any positive results from the meetings we had with the prison director to get the books back.”
Şeker added: “The hunger strike we entered is indefinite. In order to support the struggle initiated by Leyla Güven and to end the isolation of the leader of the PKK, Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, we went on indefinite hunger strike. Our hunger strike will continue until isolation is lifted. We will continue this struggle until isolation ends."
Number of hunger strikers increasing
On 28 January, Abdullah Kurt, Uğur Coşar and Şaban Yener went on hunger strike in Antep H Type Penitentiary Institution. On 1 March the number of prisoners on hunger strike had risen to 56.
