PJAK condemns death sentence given to Warisha Moradi

PJAK condemned the death sentence given to KJAR member Warisha Moradi, stating that the decision is a continuation of the Iranian state’s war on women: “Society will not easily bow down to such oppressive practices.”

The Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) Council issued a statement strongly condemning the death sentence given to Eastern Kurdistan Free Women’s Community (KJAR) member Warisha Moradi (Ciwana Sine).

The statement said: "On 10 November 2024, the Iranian judiciary sentenced Warisha Moradi to death in a decision that violates women’s and human rights. This decision was made at a time when the state did not recognize the right to free defense during the file process. The PJAK Assembly strongly condemns this cruel sentence given to Warisha Moradi and considers this sentence an attack on all Iranian people.

The irresponsible policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran are a source of great sorrow. This attitude of the Iranian regime towards society and women has become a hot topic on the world agenda today, and while the ‘No to the Death Penalty’ campaigns continue, the regime does not back down in the face of public and international reactions and insists on continuing these policies. This anti-women decision and the death penalty are indicators of a will to suppress the voice of the people, and this approach is inevitably leading to extinction and extinction."

The statement added: "The death sentence given to Warisah Muradi is a declaration of war against the people and civil society, and it will undoubtedly have severe consequences. This decision's destructive impact will deeply affect the entire community. Therefore, as a society, we do not accept such practices and policies. The people of Iran have repeatedly voiced their demands for justice in the world. The death penalties imposed on political prisoners clearly show that the Iranian regime is attempting to suppress the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî" (Women, Life, Freedom) revolution.

With this death sentence, the Iranian state has once again demonstrated that it sees no solution to the Kurdish issue beyond cultural assimilation, executions, and repression. This oppressive and undemocratic approach will have grave consequences and destabilize the foundations of the system built on such methods. Society will not easily submit to these repressive measures. The Iranian people are intensifying their resistance with their calls for freedom, and this desire is so strong that it cannot be subdued by such acts of oppression."

The statement highlighted the "broader implications of the death sentence as not only an attack on an individual but a larger strategy to undermine the growing demands for justice, equality, and cultural rights. The insistence on using extreme measures like executions to address political and social dissent is seen as an indication of the regime's refusal to engage in dialogue or find peaceful solutions. The unwavering spirit of resistance among the people suggests that these methods will only fuel further dissent and challenge the current system."

The statement continued: "The PJAK Council, while condemning the actions of the regime, calls upon all sectors of society that stand for freedom, democracy, women's rights, and youth to take a clear and firm stance against this death sentence. They emphasize the importance of international campaigns and efforts by human rights organizations in strengthening the Iranian people's determination to overcome oppression and achieve freedom. PJAK has consistently supported all campaigns against the death penalty, and it strongly backs the efforts of women, young people, and the community fighting for Warisha Moradi’s freedom.

Every death sentence issued is a denial of the Iranian people's, and especially women's, demands for freedom. The ongoing, daily social resistance makes it essential to maintain a strong and continuous fight against these oppressive practices. The PJAK Council urges global solidarity to amplify the voices opposing the regime's repressive measures and to stand together in the struggle for fundamental rights and justice in Iran. The continuous society reaction reflects a deep commitment to challenging the regime's attempts to silence dissent and suppress the growing demand for democratic freedoms."
