Munzur: CPT should stop serving the Turkish state

The Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Initiative-Syria Member Ferzende Munzur said that the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) was not doing its duty and thus serving the Turkish state policy.

In an interview with ANF, the Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Initiative-Syria Member Munzur noted that no news had been received from Kurdish leader Öcalan for more than two years. He said: “An unprecedented absolute isolation is being implemented against Öcalan, who is deprived of all his legal and human rights. This is a terrible situation not only for the Kurds, but also for all peoples, because Öcalan's perspectives offer solutions to the problems experienced by the peoples of the Middle East and the world.”

SOCIETY NEEDS ÖCALAN’S PERSPECTIVES

Munzur continued: "Everyone is aware of the role of Öcalan. Every single word from Imrali has a tremendous impact on society. The society of Turkey and Kurdistan needs Öcalan's views and perspectives that analyse crises and offer peace and solutions. Erdogan's government has no intention at all of promoting democracy and peace, nor is it ready for it. For this reason, the government continues its ban on Imrali in order to maintain its policy and power.”

DELIBERATE BLOCKING

Munzur pointed out that Öcalan played a key role in the Middle East because there would be no solution to the problems and peace would not be achieved until the Kurdish issue was resolved. He added: “They prevent Öcalan's voice from reaching the people. There is a deliberate blocking to make sure that a solution is not achieved.”

CPT SHOULD STOP SERVING THE TURKISH STATE

Remarking that the CPT and the ECtHR did not fulfil their duties and responsibilities, Munzur stated: “The CPT is an institution affiliated with the Council of Europe. It has presented many opinions and suggestions concerning Imralı so far. After its last visit to Imrali, the CPT revealed an attitude like "We made a visit, now the rest is up to Turkey". What exactly is the task of the CPT then? The organization does not uphold its basic duties and responsibilities. This means that the CPT contributes to the denial policy of the Turkish state. It literally backs the Turkish state. The CPT should reconsider its attitudes and approaches and stop serving the oppressors.”

ÖCALAN’S IDEAS OFFER UNIVERSAL SOLUTIONS

Munzur noted that the conferences and workshops held in North-East Syria, Syria, South Africa and European countries were effective and meaningful. He continued: “Those who took part in these events realized once again that Öcalan’s ideas and philosophy have become universal and belong to all humanity. His solution proposals are sound and reasonable. They are a remedy to the problems generated by Capitalist Modernity. Gatherings of this kind are very important, but I think that they should be more regular.”

A NEW CONFERENCE

Munzur unveiled that as the initiative, they had submitted many petitions to institutions and organizations, including the CPT and the ECtHR, demanding them to end the isolation of Öcalan and ensure his physical freedom, yet they had not received any response so far. He added: “When demands are related to the Kurdish question and Kurdish leader Öcalan, the so-called justice institutions remain reluctant to respond. They keep ignoring requests and petitions. History will not forget or forgive what has been done in this regard. As an initiative, our main task is to convey the voice of Öcalan to the peoples, and this will be made possible by ensuring his physical freedom. In this context, preparations are being made for a conference in a country in the Middle East where Öcalan's ideas and philosophy will be discussed in the coming months.”
