Migration to SDF controlled areas near Raqqa continues

150 more migrants, mostly women and children, have reached the zones liberated by SDF fighters. The migrants need medical attention due to the ISIS gangs attacking the migrating civilians.

Migration from ISIS controlled areas to the SDF controlled safe zones continues. Migrants are mostly from Raqqa, Tabqa and Iraq’s Mosul and Telafer regions.

Yesterday, 150 migrants of mostly women and children reached the SDF liberated areas in Raqqa region. SDF fighters are taking the migrants away from the conflict zone and settling them in safe zones. The Doctors Without Borders and Concern are also aiding the migrants.

Îhsan Mihemed Dakhil Ihsanoglû is a migrant who is an Iraqi Turkmen and he had to move out of the Tilafer region. Ihsanoglû said the SDF fighters received them and settled them in safe zones. Ihsanoglû said they gave all their possessions to smugglers and tried to reach the SDF controlled areas, and that the gangs targeted civilians trying to leave the region.

Zeyneb El-Ebid is from Meskene town. She said they waited for days for the SDF fighters to come and liberate their area, and added: “We were waiting for the fighters to save us and make our region safe. All Meskene residents are waiting for the SDF to liberate them.”

Zeyneb El-Ebid called on the SDF commanders and fighters to save Raqqa and Tabqa from gangs.

SDF General Relations Committee Member Nazdar Sileman said they greeted hundreds of migrants escaping ISIS tyranny and settled them in safe zones. Nazdar Sileman said they received a total of 8 thousand migrants up to date, mostly women and children.

Nazdar Sileman concluded with a call on the international human rights organizations to fulfill the medical needs of the migrants and added: “The gangs are shooting at the migrants, so the priority is on medical aid. On top of that, there are myriad needs that have to be met.”
