The irreversible-indefinite hunger strike 6 prisoners launched at Edirne F-type Prison to demand an end to the aggravated isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the mistreatment and psychological torture of inmates at Edirne Prison continues in its 14th day.

The hunger strike began on February 22 and the health of 3 of the 6 hunger strikers is deteriorating.

While no proper information can be received due to the communication ban given to the prisoners, Hamza Kurt, who has recently seen his brother Ali Kurt in the prison, called for acceptance of the demands in order for the hunger strike to end.

Pointing out to the increasing torture and mistreatment in prisons, Kurt said “Hunger strikes were launched here and in other prisons due to conditions getting worse. I call upon the public to pay attention to the situation in prisons. Inmates in Edirne Prison had to launch a hunger strike because of the bad conditions here. The 3 prisoners that had participated in the hunger strike a month ago are in critical condition. Everyone must be sensitive on this issue.”
