Human rights organizations in Izmir establish Refugee Solidarity Platform

Human rights organizations in Izmir established the “Refugee Solidarity Platform”. The platform aims at solidarity and struggle against racism.

Human rights organizations in Izmir established the Refugee Solidarity Platform (İMDP) to mark "21 March International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination". The platform announced its establishment with a press release in front of the Türkan Saylan Cultural Center. At the press conference, a banner saying "We are all refugees, no to racism" was opened.

The statement was read by platform member and IHD İzmir branch executive, Meral Kaba. Explaining the importance of the " International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination", Kaba said that the worst feature of racism today are the attacks and discrimination against refugees. Kaba called for unity and enlargement of the struggle.

Kaba spoke about the activities of the platform against racism and said: "We will try to carry out all kinds of awareness activities in attacks against refugees together with all the institutions and activists we can mobilize, through press statements, mass protests, campaigns on all channels of the media and social media, etc."

Finally, Kaba emphasized that recognizing the rights of refugees and stopping the attacks against them is possible with solidarity and struggle.
