HDP MP goes on hunger strike against isolation

HDP Van MP Muazzez Orhan has started a 3-day hunger strike in solidarity with Hakkari MP Leyla Güven.

DTK (Democratic Society Congress) Co-chair and HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) MP for Hakkari, Leyla Güven, is on the 26th day of her hunger strike against the aggravated isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Solidarity with Güven is growing under the motto “Leyla Güven’s demand is our demand”.

HDP MP for Van, Muazzez Orhan, has started a 3-day hunger strike in solidarity with Güven at the HDP office in Van province following a press conference attended by HDP Van provincial branch co-chair Yadişen Karabulak, DBP Van provincial branch co-chair Ayla Tarhan, Peace Mothers Initiative, TJA (Free Women’s Movement) activists and co-mayors.

Highlighting the growing support for DTK Co-chair Leyla Güven, HDP MP Orhan recalled that police attacked the hunger strike in Mersin and detained the activists on Sunday.

Orhan continued; “The Kurdish people and the peoples of Turkey will achieve democracy and freedoms and we will take no steps back. We will never bow to fascism and dictatorial regime and we will make freedoms, democracy and peace a reality. To this end, we have started a three-day hunger strike here. Fascism will lose, freedoms and democracy will prevail. We will continue our struggle in all areas. We embrace the action launched by Leyla Güven and we will continue our actions until our demands are met.”
