Former co-mayor of Sur joins hunger strike

Former Co-mayor of Sur Municipality, Seyit Narin, one of the thousands of politicians held hostage in prison, is also starting a hunger strike against the Imrali isolation.

The hunger strike resistance launched by political prisoners on November 27 with the aim of ending the isolation on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan is on its 63rd day.

It is reported that Seyit Narin, the former co-mayor of Sur Municipality, who has been held hostage in Rize Kalkandere L Type Prison for 4 years, will also go on hunger strike tomorrow.

Narin, in his phone conversation with his wife Besile Narin today, said: "Tomorrow another group will take over the hunger strike. I am also in the group. 23 people are staying in the same ward. We cannot communicate in any way with the other wards; pandemic is given as a pretext."

Besile Narin stated that they have not been able to have an open meeting with her husband for 9 months and that the authorities are trying to punish the detainees and their relatives in this way.
