Executions surge in Iran as 95 people put to death in early June

The “No to Executions on Tuesdays” campaign reported that executed at least 95 people during the first weeks of June in Iran.

The campaign was initiated by political prisoners held in 38 different prisons across Eastern Kurdistan and Iran, as a collective act of resistance against the death penalty.

A statement released on the 72nd day of the campaign revealed that between 1 and 10 June, 95 people were executed in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan.

The statement also reported that 16 people lost their lives in prison during the month of June.

It further emphasized that Iranian authorities have failed to respond to the deepening economic crisis and instead attempt to suppress public demands through intimidation and executions.

Hundreds executed since the beginning of the year

A report released in May by the Iran Human Rights Organization (IHR) revealed that at least 152 people were executed in Iran in just one month.

The findings show that during the first five months of 2025, at least 511 people, including 16 women, were executed, marking a 96 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. Despite the scale of this violence, only 28 of these executions were officially announced by state sources.
