Emine Şenyaşar enters day 21 of Vigil for Justice in Urfa

Emine Şenyaşar lost her two sons and her husband as a result of the attack of the bodyguards and relatives of AKP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, in 2018. A third son has been arrested after the attack and is still in prison. Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit are carrying out a Vigil for Justice in front of the Courthouse in Urfa. The action reaches day 21 today.

On Sunday Peace Mothers Assembly members and Free Women Movement (TJA) activists from Mardin paid a solidarity visit to Emine Şenyaşar.

Speaking during the visit, Emine Şenyaşar underlined that there is no justice and added: “Justice is underground, I'm trying to get it out. The Yildiz family still threatens us, where is justice?" Referring to the obstacles they have faced to since they started the Vigil for Justice on 9 March, Şenyaşar said that they will continue their struggle until justice is achieved.

Peace Mothers Assembly member, Perihan Altuğ, said: “We want justice. Justice must be done for Emine. We need justice for everybody. We want peace, not war. We always wanted peace, we no longer want mothers crying."

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Mardin Provincial co-chair Perihan Ağaoğlu said: “This government rejects democracy. People are being stripped of their democratic rights every day. We stand by the Şenyaşar family on behalf of all Mardin women.”
