Demonstration in solidarity with Saturday Mothers in Basel

A demonstration was held in the Claraplatz Square on the HDK-Basel Women’s Assembly’s call.

A demonstration was held in Basel, Switzerland to show support for the Saturday Mothers, who held their 702nd sit-in in the Galatasaray Square to find out the fate of their disappeared relatives.

The Turkish state attacked the Saturday Mothers on the 700th week and banned the demonstration.

Despite the ban, the relatives of the disappeared said they will continue their demonstrations until the fate of the disappeared is made public.

A demonstration was held in the Claraplatz Square on the HDK-Basel Women’s Assembly’s call. Protesters held carnations and photographs of the disappeared and gave speeches about the life and disappearance of Kenan Bilgin, who was detained in an operation against the Revolutionary Communist Party of Turkey in 1994 along with 12 others and was never heard from again.

Deniz Gülünay, daughter of Hasan Gülünay who disappeared under custody on July 20, 1992, also participated in the demonstration.

HDK Basel Women’s Assembly will be holding demonstrations in solidarity with the relatives of the disappeared every Saturday in Claraplatz.
