Airstrike on Damascus convoy in Suwayda

An Israeli airstrike reportedly targeted a military convoy belonging to the Damascus government in Suwayda.

An Israeli airstrike reportedly targeted a military convoy belonging to the Damascus government in the western countryside of Suwayda, a city in southern Syria.

According to local sources, the attack occurred near the village of Kenakir. The targeted convoy was said to belong to Syria’s “General Security” units.

Israeli media reported that the strike was carried out by the Israeli military and that the convoy was hit while en route to Kenakir.

Other positions belonging to Damascus forces were also reportedly struck, with unmanned aerial vehicles or mortars used in these attacks.

Other sources stated that at least two people were killed in the strike, although no official statement has been released yet.

Meanwhile, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), more than 100 people were killed earlier this week in attacks and clashes targeting the Druze community around Suwayda.

Israel had previously issued a strong warning to the Damascus government, accusing it of failing to protect the Druze and vowing a forceful response.

On Friday morning, the Israeli military also announced via Telegram that it had targeted areas around the presidential palace.
